*Red Boats at Argenteuil (1875): Monet used boats to create the composition, particularly in the verticals of the masts. He employs opposing colours in this instance as well, such as blue and orange and red and green. The painting is vibrant with colour, and the purples and blues depict the depth of the sea. The brushstrokes are more consistent through the water in their choppy manner, while the sky is painted more extensively with blending and blurring colours, producing a very clear contrast between the transparency of the sky and the depth of the water. *CLAUDE MONET (1845-1870) is one of the world's most famous painters, well-known today for his series of serene water lilies paintings, Claude Monet was instrumental in forging an entirely new direction for the world of art & impressionism. His distinctive use of colour, vision, and conformation would have a long influence on fine art, inspiring many great artists like Van Gogh.
