*Poppy Field in a Hollow near Giverny (1885): In this sunlit countryside, there are no distinct outlines. The size, shape, and direction of the brushstrokes indicate forms and textures, and the juxtaposition of complimentary reds and greens gives the painting a dynamic intensity. Most members of the original group had abandoned Impressionism by the mid-1880s, but Monet proclaimed, "I am still an Impressionist and will always remain one." . The painting is currently housed at theMuseum of Fine Art Boston. *CLAUDE MONET (1845-1870) is one of the world's most famous painters, well-known today for his series of serene water lilies paintings, Claude Monet was instrumental in forging an entirely new direction for the world of art & impressionism. His distinctive use of colour, vision, and conformation would have a long influence on fine art, inspiring many great artists like Van Gogh.
